Mike Dunphy was born and raised in Burlington, Vermont. His career in travel began as a Buckham Scholar at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England in 1997. Following graduation, he joined the Peace Corps, beginning a teaching career that led to nearly a dozen years of work in Europe and Turkey at nearly every level of education, including university and corporate. A twist of fate in Istanbul, Turkey in 2006 led to his first professional writing work. Redirecting his life towards journalism, Mike won admission and a fellowship to Emerson College, where he earned a master’s degree in publishing and writing in 2010. Today, Mike Dunphy works as a full-time freelance writer, editor, and photographer in New York. His work has appeared in many national publications including USA Today, Fodor's, Travel & Leisure, Saveur, Travel Weekly, Huffington Post, Metro NY, PBS, American Way, and Time Out. He also provides custom content for several Time Inc. publications. Mike is always open to new projects and opportunities, especially if any lead to travel.
